Portion of Miracle Beach closed as precaution after treated water overflows near West Point Lighthouse
Public Health - Seattle & King County (Public Health) has evaluated the incident and recommends closing about 1,800 feet of Miracle Beach, just south of the West Point Lighthouse at Discovery Park in Seattle.
Because the water that overflowed was fully treated and disinfected, Public Health has determined that water sampling is not needed. However, out of an abundance of caution Public Health is recommending the closure.
People and pets should avoid the red-shaded area shown on the map below. The public should also avoid any standing water on the ground and from nearby stormwater drains.
Our Community Services team posted signs in the area today, Saturday, Nov. 29.
The closure will be in effect through noon on Dec. 5, 2025. The Public Health recommendations may change as more information becomes available.
King County crews continue to work onsite and have eliminated the flooding issue.
