Public meetings
The Coal Creek project team hosted an online meeting from 5:30 to 7pm on July 14, 2021 to provide a project update, and collect input on options to improve accessibility at the Red Cedar Trailhead.

The Coal Creek project team hosted two in-person meetings to share project information and respond to community questions. The May 15, 2019 meeting was held at the Lewis Creek Visitor Center and the May 29 meeting was held at the Newcastle Library.

Event purpose
The project outreach team tabled at Salmon Days 2025. In this event, about 140 people stopped by to talk about Coal Creek Sewer Upgrade Project. The team talked about King County’s local works to protect salmon. They also shared that this sewer upgrade project received Salmon Safe Certification.

They also learned where Newcastle’s wastewater goes and the treatment process. The team led a hands-on activity about what people can flush to protect the environment.
