Ian Huri

Ian Huri is the Division Chief for the Support Services Division which spans a diverse set of services that are vital to efficient operations and direct support to the other divisions of the Sheriff’s Office and the community as a whole.  Support Services encompasses 911 call receiving and dispatching, Human Resources, Training, Technology, Property Management, Finance, Public Disclosure, and Courthouse Security.

A lifelong Washingtonian, Ian joined the King County Sheriff’s Office after a 21-year career at the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office.  In his time in Snohomish County Ian served in a wide variety of assignments culminating in serving as the Undersheriff.  His journey in law enforcement encompasses diverse roles, including patrol, Field Training Officer, SWAT negotiator, patrol sergeant, precinct commander, captain, and operations bureau chief.  Of all of his assignments Ian is particularly proud of the opportunity he had to help create a unit in Snohomish County that paired law enforcement officers and social workers in an effort to help those who were unhoused and experiencing substance use disorder to find housing, treatment and ongoing support.  Ian’s participation in this collaborative process earned him a Medal of Merit from the National Sheriff’s Association and the unit was awarded the Snohomish County Human Rights Commission Law Award in 2016.

Ian holds a Master of Science in Management and Leadership from Western Governors University and a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Washington State University.  Ian is also a graduate of Northwestern University’s Center for Public Safety, School of Police Staff and Command and is a recipient of the FBI-LEEDA Trilogy award for completing Supervisor, Command and Executive Leadership Institutes.

Ian lives in south Snohomish County with his wife of 25 years and their two children.  In his spare time Ian enjoys, golfing, traveling, watching sports and spending time with his family.  Ian’s volunteer experience primarily centers on coaching youth sports, supporting Special Olympics Washington and serving on a board committee at Archbishop Murphy High School in Everett, WA.
