NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that a public hearing will be held before the Metropolitan King County Council on the 18th day of June, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. to consider adoption of Proposed Ordinance 2024-0146, which establishes the sewer rate and capacity charge for the year 2025. A public hearing before the Metropolitan King County Council will be held at the King County Courthouse, 516 3rd Avenue Room 1001, on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at 1:30; remote public testimony on Zoom will be accepted. It is expected that the full Council will take action on this Proposed Ordinance at the June 18, 2024, meeting following the public hearing. SUMMARY

King County is proposing this ordinance to:

  • Make a determination of the sewer rate for the year 2025 that must be charged in order to meet the monetary requirements (administration, operating, maintenance repair, and replacement costs) of the County's sewage disposal program.The proposed sewer rate for 2025 is $58.28 per month per residential customer equivalent (RCE).By comparison, the sewer rate for the year 2024 is $55.11 per RCE per month.
  • Set the capacity charge for sewer connections occurring between and including January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2025.The capacity charge is the fee that is assessed against customers establishing new connections to ensure that those customers bear their equitable share of the cost of new capacity-related sewage facilities necessary to serve them.The proposed capacity charge is $76.09 month per RCE for fifteen years.By comparison, the capacity charge for the year 2024 is $74.23 per RCE per month for fifteen years.
