Conservation Futures Advisory Committee recruitment

Consider applying to serve on the Conservation Futures Advisory Committee to recommend grant funding awards to the King County executive and council. The 2025 deadline for applications is August 15, 2025.

King County is seeking volunteers to fill three positions on the Conservation Futures Advisory Committee. The committee makes recommendations to the King County Executive and Council for awards of Conservation Futures grant funding. These grants help local governments and nonprofits purchase natural areas, passive-use parks, urban greenspaces, wildlife habitat, trails, farms, and forests throughout King County.

Recruitment and eligibility information

Applicants should be interested in and knowledgeable about open space acquisition and protection. We strive to have committee membership reflect the full diversity of the county. We welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds, including people from communities that have been historically excluded or underrepresented—such as Black, Indigenous, and other People of Color, LGBTQ+, immigrants and refugees, and people from low-income backgrounds.

The three open positions have specific geographic residency requirements, and you must live in Council District 1, 2, 3, 6, or 8 to apply. Before you apply, please review the residency requirements map of eligible districts, and/or confirm your eligibility at kingcounty.gov/CouncilDistricts.
