Metro-Sound Transit careers

Sound Transit and Metro collectively provide transit services spanning Pierce, King, and Snohomish counties in the Puget Sound region. While Metro operates the bus system within these areas, Sound Transit oversees the Light Rail system. Both agencies maintain all properties owned under their jurisdiction, including bus stops, maintenance facilities, platforms, rails, and buildings.

What are we looking for?

Metro and Sound Transit are actively seeking transit professionals from other agencies to join our dynamic team. An ideal candidate will:

  • Demonstrate commitment to the KCSO Vision, Mission, Core Values and Goals.

  • Show a willingness to support and promote the Sound Transit Police Vision, Mission, Goals and Philosophy.
  • Be professional, reliable, and hold the ability to work either independently or in a team environment.
  • Have the ability to implement community policing methods in an urban transit environment.
  • Hold strong problem-solving skills.
  • Have strong diplomatic and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to utilize de-escalation skills.
  • Understand Understanding the importance of inter-agency communications, with various community, city, and County organizations.
  • Show a willingness to address transit concerns, while working collaboratively with various units within the Sound Transit Police and the King County Sheriff’s Office.
