Fain takes office, promises results-driven leadership for South King County
November 25, 2025
Councilmember Steffanie Fain released the following statement after being sworn in Tuesday afternoon as the newest member of the King County Council. Fain now represents District 5, which includes the cities of Des Moines, Kent, Normandy Park, Renton, SeaTac, and Tukwila:
“It’s an honor to serve the people of South King County, and I’m guided first and foremost by our shared values: safe neighborhoods, affordable communities, and accountable government. My focus is on delivering real results — making daily life more affordable for working families and seniors, strengthening public safety and first response, and ensuring every tax dollar truly works for the people who earn it.
“That means practical, community-centered solutions: expanding access to childcare, housing, and behavioral-health supports, and improving how our public systems respond when people need help. South King County is resilient, diverse, and full of potential. I’m ready to bring urgency, partnership, and clear-eyed accountability to the Council so our communities get the outcomes they deserve — and so every neighborhood in District 5 has the opportunity to thrive.”
