“I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former Governor Mike Lowry. He was a capable colleague and a considerate friend. His avid supporters will forever remember is tenacity in standing up for ordinary citizens, especially for the poor, the low-income and the vulnerable.

“He became Governor my second year in the Legislature, and I worked directly with him as a member of his Blue Ribbon Commission on Higher Education in promoting affordable access to quality higher education.

“I found Mike to be a humble man who worked tirelessly to effect social change where it was needed, and I will miss that tenacity.”
