Dunn: Controversial Plan to Merge King County and National Elections Would Bury Local Issues, Infuse Partisanship

Story

In response to a controversial proposal to move King County government elections to even-numbered years, Councilmember Reagan Dunn is releasing the following statement. He is available for interviews throughout the day—please email David.Shurtleff@kingcounty.gov.

“Aligning our local races with national politics would allow hot-button federal issues to eclipse the local issues that have so much impact on our daily lives. Those nuts-and-bolts issues—such as homelessness, land use, crime, and transportation—deserve our attention in their own right, and independent of the partisanship that taints national politics.”
