Summary The King County Council recently approved Executive Dow Constantine’s proposal to allocate nearly $30 million in grants funded by the King County Parks Levy that will support 53 projects led by cities, park districts, school districts, and community organizations throughout the region.

At least 6,800 adult kokanee salmon have returned from Lake Sammamish to their spawning ground this season following an eight-year period when an average of less than 400 kokanee returned. King County biologists say the sharp increase is the result of several actions that include restoring access to historic habitat.

Ranked Choice Voting Advisory Committee 

About the Ranked Choice Voting Advisory Committee In November 2022, Seattle voters approved a ballot measure to use Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) in Primary Elections for City of Seattle offices, including the Mayor, City Attorney, and City Council. Beginning in the August 2027 Primary Election, Seattle voters will rank the candidates in order of preference instead of voting for a single candidate.  The RCV Advisory Commitee was formed by King County Elections (KCE) to ensure transparency, accuracy, and community engagement in the implementation of Ranked Choice Voting for Seattle voters. This group represents diverse communities across Seattle and will provide input and advice to King County Elections throughout the implementation process.

WaterWorks Grant Program

The WaterWorks Grant Program provides approximately $5 million in funding every two years to organizations carrying out a variety of water quality improvement projects in the service area for King County's regional wastewater system.
