Kohl-Welles: “Access for All” is going to voters

Summary

If approved by voters, Access for All will fund public school access programs and regional and community-based art, science and cultural heritage cultural organizations in King County

Story

Metropolitan King County Councilmember Jeanne Kohl-Welles, prime sponsor of the Access for All ordinance placing a cultural access program sales and use tax on the August ballot, released this statement on the vote at the Council’s May 1 meeting sending the measure to the voters:

“If approved by voters, Access for All will fund public school access programs and regional and community-based art, science and cultural heritage cultural organizations in King County.

“If approved, the program will be funded by a 0.1 percent increase in the county sales tax, which would be 1 cent for every $10 spent. It will generate an estimated $67 million each year over the next seven years.”
