Water quality

Many people ask our office if their water is safe to drink. The answer is that it depends – many things affect drinking water quality. The only way to know for sure is to test the water quality by taking a sample and having it analyzed by a lab.

Large Group A water systems, where most people in King County get their water, frequently test their water quality to ensure safety. However, people using small public water systems and individual private wells are responsible for checking the safety of their water. The following section provides some education and resources on water quality and determining if your water is safe to drink.
