King County Executive Dow Constantine this afternoon received notice from representatives of the King County Police Officers Guild that members have voted in support of proposed amendments to the terms of their current collective bargaining agreement. The Executive has this response:“We appreciate that Guild members have taken the initiative to open the door to a reconsideration of their contract. We look forward to discussing the proposal through our labor negotiation process.
“Our consistent principle in this budget year has been to work with our bargaining units to waive their cost-of-living adjustment so that we could preserve services in their respective work groups – within the means available and in a way that is financially sustainable.”
