Story
King County Executive Dow Constantine today received a letter signed by all nine members of the Seattle City Council pledging $15 million toward replacement of the South Park Bridge:
“I extend my deepest thanks to Council President Richard Conlin, Transportation Committee Chair Tom Rasmussen and all of the members of the Seattle City Council for their financial pledge and strong commitment to our effort to fund replacement of the South Park Bridge.
“This pledge is especially timely because it shows the broad regional support for this critical project, which will support our application for a federal grant for bridge replacement.
“This commitment demonstrates to the thousands of businesses and residents in the South Park community that King County and its regional partners are moving forward with bridge replacement by assembling the necessary funding.
“This is one more step in the journey towards replacing the bridge and I warmly thank members of the Seattle City Council for today’s action.”
