Story
Executive Dow Constantine today praised the Washington Supreme Court's 7-2 rejection of a petition to stop light rail expansion on Interstate 90.
"I am very pleased with the Washington Supreme Court's decision to deny a petition to block the use of the center lanes of the I-90 bridge for light rail.
"This is a great win not just for supporters of light rail, but for the residents of our region who want increased east-west mobility across Lake Washington and better access to downtown Bellevue. This decision rejects efforts by those who sought to frustrate voter approval to provide light rail across I-90.
"Now, we need to move forward in constructing the new light rail lines authorized by our region's voters and in providing all forms of transit to give King County residents alternatives to driving."
