Executive Dow Constantine tonight made the following statement on his re-election by the largest margin ever recorded in a race for King County Executive. The largest previous margin of victory was in 1997, when Ron Sims took 65.5 percent of the vote:
“I thank the voters for their overwhelming endorsement of our work to reform King County government and put it back on sound financial footing.
“It’s not only a vote for me, it’s a vote of confidence in the work we’re doing at King County in partnership with our 13,000 employees – the people out there every day providing essential services to the public.
“We’ll work over the next four years to advance our reform agenda, and make King County the best-run local government in the nation. We will strengthen our human, natural and physical infrastructure, to make sure our generation lives up to its responsibility to those who came before and those who will follow.”
