Executive Constantine proclaims Feb. 1, 2015 to be 'Send Your Employees Home at 2:30 So They Can Watch the Seahawks Win the Super Bowl Again Day'
Summary
As the Seattle Seahawks prepare to win back-to-back Super Bowl titles, Executive Constantine issues a proclamation for King County employers.
Story
King County Executive Dow Constantine issued the follow proclamation:
WHEREAS, the defending NFL Champion Seattle Seahawks are playing in their second straight Super Bowl on the afternoon of Sunday, February 1, 2015, and are poised to deflate the New England Patriots in the title game; and
WHEREAS, King County is filled with loyal "12s" who care deeply about the Legion of Boom, Russ, Beast Mode, Coach Pete, and our proud Seahawks legacy, and want nothing more than to participate in the Hawks' bid to win back-to-back NFL championships; and
WHEREAS, although there will be a legitimate need for retail sales earlier in the day, by mid-afternoon any loyal Hawks fan worthy of the title will either be in the stands in Glendale, Ariz, or ensconced in front of a television, fully stocked up on snacks (and beverages), waiting impatiently for the 3:30 p.m. kickoff; and
WHEREAS, basic decency, fairness, and community spirit dictate that employers should dismiss all non-essential employees at 2:30 p.m., or otherwise allow them access to a television, so that all local sports fans are able to cheer on the Seahawks to victory.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Dow Constantine, Executive of King County, do hereby proclaim February 1, 2015 to be
Send Your Employees Home at 2:30 So They Can Watch the Seahawks Win the Super Bowl Again Day
in King County. I encourage all employers to prioritize this (now annual) civic ritual and to ensure that our Seahawks are able to have the maximum psychic support for their second straight Super Bowl win.
Go Hawks!
