Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs)

Dispatch centers, also known as PSAP's, are equipped with trained Telecommunicators to handle emergency calls. There are 11 PSAP's in King County, 10 primary and 1 secondary. A primary PSAP directly receives 911 calls from the telephone providers, and callers are transferred from a primary PSAP to a secondary PSAP when needed for fire or medical assistance.
