Veterans Day holiday closures and service impacts

Most King County government offices will be closed to observe Veterans Day. Veterans Day is on November 11. When November 11 falls on a Saturday, the holiday will be observed on the Friday before. When November 11 falls on a Sunday, the holiday will be observed on the Monday after.

In 2024, Veterans Day will be observed on Monday, November 11.

Transit

• Check Metro bus and transit holiday service information to see if service is different on Veterans Day.
• Check Water Taxi schedules to see if there is service on Veterans Day:
  • Vashon Island to Seattle
  • West Seattle to Seattle
• Metro offices will be closed. This includes customer service, lost and found, and pass sales.

Courts

District Court, Superior Court, and the Superior Court Clerk’s office will be closed.

Other services

• Solid waste facilities and transfer stations will be open.
• Contact your garbage collection service provider for information on collections.

Veterans Day is a federal holiday in the United States for honoring military veterans of the United States Armed Forces. Veterans Day was originally known as Armistice Day, which started in 1919. The holiday was renamed in 1954.
