Permit suspensions and facility closures: what to know

Please note: There are currently no listed permit suspensions or facility closures.

We strive to work closely with operators to ensure all facilities comply with Pet Business regulations. However, there are occasions where facilities continue to be out of compliance, which means we may need to suspend the permit. Circumstances that may lead to a permit suspension include:

  • Three or more unsatisfactory inspections with uncorrected health and safety violations.
  • Failure to comply with a Notice of Violation and Notice and Order to correct violations.
  • Failure to cease operations after an emergency occurrence (such as a fire, sewage backup, loss of power, or zoonotic disease outbreak.)
  • Failure to obtain an operating permit.

Information for pet businesses permit suspensions and closures by Public Health will remain online for a minimum of 7 days after the establishment's permit has been reinstated.
