Our mission

Our mission is to assess and stabilize serious health problems for the detained population of King County Correctional Facility and the Maleng Regional Justice Center with a focus on transition from jail.

Our services

  • Medication Management and In-House Pharmacy
Our jail pharmacies provide necessary medications to our patients free of charge. Our pharmacists make sure patients keep taking their current medications and provide new medications, when needed, to help patients stay healthy.
  • Mental Health Care
Addressing mental health needs is important when someone is in jail. If a patient needs help with their feelings or thoughts, we have a mental health clinic with psychiatrists and therapists who partner with our patients to treat mental health needs.
  • Medical and Dental Services
At our facilities nurses, doctors and dentists work with each patient to create a plan to manage their care needs. They provide information and education to help patients stay healthy. When needed these providers arrange for care with hospitals and specialists.
  • Routine Care and Health Housing
Jail health doctors and nurses give care and check-ups for issues that need to be watched regularly. This includes checking sugar levels for diabetes, performing tests, checking vitals such as heart rate and weight, and taking care of cuts or wounds.
  • High Needs Medical Care
The Jail Health Services Infirmary is for patients whose health needs require close monitoring and regular assistance. The infirmary is staffed by nurses and nurse assistants 24 hours a day.
  • The Diversion Program
The Diversion Program supports individuals referred by the prosecutor's office by offering social services instead of the regular legal process, aiming to reduce incarceration rates and provide long-term community support.
  • Release Planning/ Community Referrals
The Release Planning Program offers coordinated care for individuals with significant mental health, substance use, and medical conditions upon release. By linking to vital healthcare, social services, and benefits, it aids in a smooth transition to the community.
  • Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Program
The Substance Use Disorder Program supports individuals with drug or alcohol disorder by providing personalized care, medication, and community collaboration to ensure safety and support.
  • Court Services
The Court Services team works with individuals referred to one of four therapeutic courts: King County Regional Mental Health Court, King County Veterans Court, Seattle Municipal Mental Health Court, and Seattle Municipal Veterans Treatment Court.
  • Health Information Management Services
The Health Information Management Services team collects, stores, and manages patient medical records, schedules appointments, releases records for future care coordination, and offers administrative support for the division.
