Register now for fourth annual FOD Walk

Full day of fun and activities planned on July 20

King County International Airport-Boeing Field is opening its doors to the community and general aviation enthusiasts for our fourth annual FOD Walk on Saturday, July 20. FOD stands for "Foreign Object Debris," items that could prove dangerous to aircraft and engines. The purpose of this event is to remove these potentially hazardous objects from the airfield.

Register for the FOD Walk at Eventbrite: eventbrite.com/e/kcia-fod-walk-2024-tickets-914730181597

There is a limit of 250 participants at the FOD Walk. Participants should arrive and park at the Museum of Flight, 9404 E Marginal Way S., between 7 and 8 a.m. on the day of the event. There will be a mandatory safety briefing at 8:15 a.m., and everyone must be on the buses for the runway no later than 8:30 a.m. Latecomers cannot be accommodated due to the timing of the opening and closing of the airfield. Participants will be given bags and grabbers to remove debris from the runway and adjacent grassy areas. Be aware that this is an outside event in a loud environment, with long distances of walking involved. There will be refreshments provided at the end of the walk at about 10 a.m.

Participants must be at least 14 years old, unless accompanied by an adult who is also participating in the FOD Walk. Registration ends at 6 a.m. on July 20.

Everyone must complete a liability waiver to participate in the FOD Walk. People may be turned away if the waiver is not completed and submitted before the walk begins. If you are bringing a minor under 14 years of age, a parent or guardian must complete a waiver for them, and the minor must be accompanied by an adult participant who has also registered and completed their own waiver.

Airport Community Day presented by Friends of Boeing Field

Also, the Friends of Boeing Field will host an Airport Community Day event immediately after the FOD Walk, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Airport Community Day is an opportunity to meet businesses and organizations around the airport to learn about what they do and inquire about potential job opportunities they have. There will be STEM activities for children, static aircraft displays, and food trucks. Visit boeing-field.com for more information. A separate registration is required for Airport Community Day: eventbrite.com/e/airport-community-day-tickets-916525942767. A liability waiver is not required for Airport Community Day.
