Update on demolition of 7300 Building and UPS Gateway construction

Impacts will last through November 30

Demolition of the 7300 Building along Airport Way is nearly complete, enabling the final stage of the multi-year UPS Gateway construction project to start.

This project will create additional employee parking and realign the airport terminal road to help reduce driver confusion when leaving the terminal. To facilitate construction, Perimeter Road between South Othello Street and the UPS site entrance will be closed starting August 8 through at least November 30. The map below shows the construction area and impacted areas.

During the road closure, all outbound terminal traffic must use the north exit to exit from Perimeter Road to access Airport Way. There is no access to Airport Way from South Othello Street or directly from the terminal access road or terminal parking. A map identifying the northbound exit is shown below. You can also download the Traffic Control Plan for a more detailed look at the changes.

  • Vehicles leaving the terminal drop-off area must exit through terminal parking
  • Perimeter Road will be closed between South Orchard and South Othello streets
  • South Othello Street will be closed
  • Perimeter Road will be open north of South Orchard Street

As part of our commitment to ensuring the safety and efficiency of our community, we would like to inform you about the rules and regulations regarding the upcoming traffic impact due to ongoing construction activities.

  • Speed Limits: Please adhere to all posted speed limits within the construction zone. Reduced speed limits are implemented for the safety of both workers and motorists.
  • Lane Closures: Temporary lane closures may be in effect to accommodate construction activities. Please follow signage and instructions to safely navigate through the area.
  • Alternate Routes: Consider using alternate routes, if possible, to avoid congestion near the construction site. Plan your travel ahead of time to minimize delays.
  • Pedestrian Safety: Exercise caution when navigating sidewalks near construction zones.
  • Parking Restrictions: Temporary parking restrictions may be in place near the construction site to facilitate work operations. Please respect these restrictions to ensure smooth traffic flow and avoid potential fines or towing.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding during this project. These measures are being implemented to enhance the safety and functionality of our community's infrastructure.
