By mail

Property owners can mail their payment via check, cashier's check, or money order if postmarked no later than the statutory due date. Payments should be addressed to:

King County Treasury
201 S. Jackson St., Suite 710
Seattle, WA 98104

Please include the property tax account number on the check or money order. Taxpayers do not need to include a tax statement with the payment as long as the property tax account number is on the check or money order and payment is for the exact amount due. Do not send cash through the mail.

In person

Taxpayers can pay in person at the King County Customer Service Center, located at 201 S. Jackson St., second floor, in Seattle's Pioneer Square neighborhood. The Customer Service Center is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., closed on King County holidays. In-person payment can be made by check or money order, credit or debit card, or in cash. If paying by card, a service fee applies.

To request an ADA accommodation for in-person services, please fill out this form.

By secure drop box

A secure drop box is located on the corner of Second Avenue and South Jackson Street, inside the security gates. Payment can be made by check or money order. Do not deposit cash payments in the drop box. The drop box is available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Sign up for reminders

Get an email and/or text message reminder roughly 30 days before the property tax payment deadlines of April 30 and October 31.

Note: This service is only a reminder of King County property tax payment deadlines. If the message doesn't reach you for any reason, you are still required to pay your property taxes on time. Fees will be added to late property tax payments. King County is not at fault for late payments, even if this notice fails to send or is never received.
King County Treasury Operations will only use the email address or cell phone number you provide to send you property tax deadline reminders. The King County Privacy Policy explains how we handle the information you give us.

Real Property vs. Personal Property

There are two types of property subject to taxes in King County: Real Property and Personal Property.

  • Real property is residential or commercial land and structures on that land.
  • Personal property is assets used in conducting a business.
  • Mobile homes and floating homes are taxed as personal property if not associated with a real property account.
