Dunn Announces 6th Annual King County Substance Use Recovery Conference
May 11, 2026
King County Councilmember Reagan Dunn is inviting community members, treatment providers, educators, advocates, and local leaders to attend the 6th Annual King County Substance Use Recovery Conference on Thursday, July 23 at Renton Technical College.
This year’s conference theme, “Forward Together,” emphasizes the importance of collective action, shared responsibility, and community partnerships in supporting recovery and addressing substance use disorder across King County.
“The rise in substance use addiction continues to be one of the most urgent challenges facing our region and nation,” said King County Councilmember Reagan Dunn. “Through my own journey to recovery, I know how important the support of family, friends, and community can be. And this conference is all about moving forward together as a community—sharing solutions, strengthening partnerships, and ensuring that anyone seeking recovery can find hope and help, no matter the barriers they may face.”
The keynote speaker this year will be Regina LaBelle, Professor of Addiction Policy at Georgetown University and former Acting Director of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy.
“The King County Conference on Substance Use and Recovery is an opportunity for us to learn from one another, strengthen our community, and hear from national leaders like Regina LaBelle, former Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy,” said Brad Finegood, Strategic Advisor on Behavioral Health for Public Health – Seattle & King County. “With innovations such as Crisis Care Centers and the Overdose Recovery and Care Access Center, we are expanding access to services in ways that meet people where they are, support meaningful engagement, and bring recovery within reach for anyone who seeks it.”
The event is free to attend, though registration is required, and brings together organizations and individuals from across King County to discuss recovery strategies, public policy, overdose prevention, and access to treatment and support services.
“From overdose trends to the growing strain on our healthcare and social service systems, the data in King County make clear that substance use disorder remains a critical public health issue,” said Monika Whitfield, Executive Director of the Washington Recovery Alliance. “This conference recognizes that peer leadership is essential to what works, elevating the voices of people with lived experience and expanding access to recovery support so more individuals can find and sustain recovery. I’m grateful to Councilmember Reagan Dunn and his team for their continued leadership in prioritizing substance use disorder and mental health recovery year after year.”
Complimentary lunch and refreshments will be provided for registered attendees. For questions or to register a vendor booth at the conference, please email Darren.Nguyen@kingcounty.gov.
