How to send money to an adult in a King County detention facility.

There are several ways to add funds to a person's account. Most ways are managed by Access Corrections. 

Customer service agents from Access Corrections web-based services and in-person kiosks will notify you of potential fees before finalizing transactions.

Online

You can use a credit card to add money to a person's account on Access Corrections website. You can also add money through their mobile app.


Jail kiosks

There are Access Corrections kiosks in the reception area at both the Seattle jail and Kent jail. The Department of Adult and Juvenile Detention assumes no responsibility for kiosk deposits.

Retail locations

You can make cash deposits at some retailers like 7-Eleven, CVS, and Dollar General. You must register at Cash Pay Today before making deposits at retail locations.

 

By phone

You can add money to a person’s account using a credit card by calling Access Corrections at 866-345-1884.


Money orders and cashier's checks

Money orders or cashier's checks may be added to a person’s account by U.S. mail. Cash or personal checks are not allowed. If you send money orders or cashier’s checks, please note the following: 

  • You must include the person’s name and B/A (book of arrest) number. You can find a B/A with our Subject Lookup Tool.
  • Include your name and return address when possible.
  • Allow 10 business days for posting on all money orders and cashier's checks of $50 or more.

Beware of scams targeting people in jail and family members

We have been alerted to a scam where people contact family members claiming they can have someone released from jail or placed on Electronic Home Detention in exchange for payment.
