King County sets $96 million in purchase agreements for Health Through Housing properties in Federal Way, Pioneer Square, and North Seattle
King County announced purchase agreements for three additional properties for Health Through Housing, bringing the total acquisitions for the initiative to eight properties. Once purchased, the buildings located in Federal Way, Pioneer Square, and North Seattle, will provide 313 safe, affordable homes for King County’s chronically homeless residents.

Executive Constantine transmits Best Starts for Kids Implementation Plan to the King County Council
Executive Constantine transmitted the Best Starts for Kids Implementation Plan and proposed ordinance that, if enacted, would adopt the plan to govern strategies, programs, and expenditures should the levy be approved for renewal by voters this August. The expanded levy would generate more than $880 million over six years for investment in the plan’s eight key programs and projects.

After a unanimous decision in the Washington State Supreme Court upholding King County's process for conducting inquests, King County Executive Dow Constantine issued an executive order that further refines the proceedings, setting the stage for restarting delayed inquests and reviewing dozens of other officer-involved deaths.

King County purchases Auburn hotel for Health Through Housing
King County has purchased the former Clarion Inn in Auburn to provide housing to 102 people experiencing chronic homelessness. This is the fifth purchase in County Executive Dow Constantine’s Health through Housing initiative to provide supportive housing for people experiencing chronic or long-term homelessness. With acquisitions to date, Health through Housing will provide approximately 535 units for King County’s chronically homeless residents.

Constantine statement on Washington Supreme Court inquest decision
On July 15, the state Supreme Court released its decision in a case challenging the way that King County conducts inquests. An inquest is an administrative, fact-finding inquiry into the causes and circumstances of a death at the hands of law enforcement officers.

Redmond hotel is latest King County Health Through Housing purchase
King County has purchased the former Silver Cloud Inn in Redmond to provide housing to people experiencing chronic homelessness. This is the fourth purchase in County Executive Dow Constantine’s Health through Housing initiative to provide supportive housing for people experiencing chronic or long-term homelessness. With acquisitions to date, Health through Housing will provide approximately 433 units for King County’s chronically homeless residents.

King County launches first in the nation pilot program to house homeless Veterans
The Collaborative Case Management (CCM) Pilot Program, the first of its kind in the nation, blends federal Veteran housing vouchers with King County Veterans Program supportive services to make stable housing possible for more than 140 local Veterans.

King County expands Health Through Housing initiative with third hotel purchase in partnership with City of Seattle
King County has purchased the former Holiday Inn Express & Suites North Seattle and will partner with City officials to provide supportive housing for approximately 99 people experiencing chronic or long-term homelessness. This is the third hotel purchase in County Executive Dow Constantine’s Health through Housing initiative. To date, Health through Housing will provide approximately 289 units for King County’s chronically homeless residents.
