Help keep light rail running! The Rail Electro-Mechanic Pathway represents three possible employee journeys to and beyond the Electro-Mechanic III position within the Rail Division. Rail Service Worker

Employee cleans the interior and exterior of Light Rail Vehicles (LRVs) or streetcars and moves LRVs or streetcars in the yard.

Rail Electro-Mechanic Trainee

Under a 2-year commitment, trainees assist in and perform basic electrical and mechanical work, to diagnose, maintain, repair, rebuild, , service, inspect and test light rail vehicles and associated electronic systems and equipment. This training opportunity is open to both internal and external applicants.

Special Duty Assignment (SDA)

Current career service employees are eligible to apply for Special Duty Assignments (SDAs) within VM, Metro or King County that may last anywhere from 30 days to 3 years. SDAs allow you to build skills, experience and your resume. At the end of an SDA, employees return to their original positions.

Rail Electro-Mechanic III

Employee will perform journey-level electrical, electronic and mechanical work on light rail vehicles and associated equipment. Employees test and repair communications systems, surveillance equipment and other related equipment.

Rail Electro-Mechanic Lead

Employee will identify, schedule, coordinate, plan, assign, oversee, and evaluate the work of other Rail Electro-Mechanics, vendors and contractors. Employee performs journey-level electrical, electronic, and mechanical work and testing on light rail vehicles, streetcars, and associated equipment.

Rail Technical Trainer

Employee designs, develops, implements and evaluates training programs to sustain all phases of light rail or streetcar operations and providing classroom and field training to light rail or streetcar operators and other rail/streetcar personnel.

Transit Chief — Rail Technical Training (Rail Training Chief)

Employee will oversee rail technical training and supervise assigned staff to achieve timely and cost-efficient service delivery in line with performance improvement goals and service level requirements. Employees will oversee administrative functions to ensure the training supports the daily delivery of Rail Division services and complies with applicable operating agreements.

Transit Chief — Rail Vehicle Maintenance (Rail Chief)

Employee will provide direct oversight and supervision of an assigned area within Rail Vehicle Maintenance or Seattle Streetcar that include specific assignments in Vehicle Maintenance, Maintenance Training and the Material Service Center.

Transit Superintendent - Rail Vehicle Maintenance

Employee will manage, supervise and direct all light rail fleet maintenance and repair operations, warranty administration, procurement and inventory management for rail operations.

Transit Section Manager (Rail Maintenance Section Manager)

Employee will manage an assigned section within a division. The incumbent is responsible for overseeing the section, including supervising staff, developing and managing the implementation strategies, and managing the section budget.
