Roadway Update: The dip is gone!

Crews have fixed the dip in Discovery Park Boulevard and finished paving. The road is open, but workers will return for short periods this month to finish the job.

What’s next:

  • Install concrete curbs and paint roadway lines
  • Restore plants and soil along the sides of the road

Work will happen on a few days through February 27, between 8 am and 2 pm. When crews are working, flaggers will keep traffic moving. Sidewalks and trails will stay open. Read the full update.

Winter 2026 Newsletter: It’s raining! It’s pouring! But West Point’s not snoring

In 2025, we worked on 13 construction projects at West Point Treatment Plant to make the system safer and more reliable. These upgrades help protect against earthquakes, heavy rain, and other challenges.

Highlights include:

  • New roof and control room for the raw sewage pump building
  • Pipe replacements to keep water moving through the plant
  • Fire safety and overflow protection projects completed
  • System improvements that helped treat 2 billion gallons during recent storms

New passive weir system (long square white passage with rectangular opening near the top) works like the overflow drain in a sink or bathtub.

Located next to Discovery Park in Seattle, West Point Treatment Plant (West Point) began operating in 1966. West Point cleans more wastewater each day than any other plant in Washington. Approximately 90 million gallons of wastewater per day are treated at the facility during the dry months. Seattle’s combined stormwater/wastewater sewer system also flows into West Point. West Point serves homes and businesses in Seattle, Shoreline, north Lake Washington, north King County, and parts of south Snohomish County.
