Dunn issues statement on sentencing of driver from deadly 2024 Fairwood crash that killed mother, three children
April 25, 2025
King County Councilmember Reagan Dunn issued the following statement Friday after Chase Jones, the man responsible for a high-speed crash last year in Renton’s Fairwood neighborhood that killed four people, was sentenced to over 17 years in prison. Jones, who was 18 at the time of the crash, was reportedly driving at 112 mph and ran a red light before crashing into another vehicle, killing three children and one adult. Dunn has worked to crack down on speeding in the area through funding special emphasis patrols and commissioning a report that resulted in the implementation of calming measures and lower the speed limit along 140th Ave SE.
“No sentence or punishment can bring back the innocent lives that were lost or come close to remedying that which was taken from the families of the victims, but I hope this case can both serve as a stark warning to those who would endanger others, and bring closure to a grieving community. I am thankful to the sheriff’s deputies and prosecutors who brought this case to conclusion.”
