Crisis Care Centers Initiative

Free 24/7 crisis services for everyone in King County

The Crisis Care Centers initiative was approved by King County voters to create a countywide network of five Crisis Care Centers, restore and expand residential treatment beds, and strengthen the community behavioral health workforce.

The first Crisis Care Center in Kirkland is now open, and the County plans to open four more centers in Seattle, South and East King County, plus one for youth. A Crisis Care Center is a place anyone can walk into 24/7 to get urgent care for a wide range of mental health, drug or alcohol use challenges, regardless of insurance. You can also call 988 for immediate support or request a mobile crisis team for yourself or someone else when you need an in-person response.

In 2024, King County made meaningful early progress toward the purposes of the Crisis Care Centers (CCC) Levy to help meet the urgent needs of people experiencing a behavioral health crisis.

Seattle Community Advisory Group

The Seattle Community Advisory Group (SCAG) is a forum for collaboration between King County, the City of Seattle, and a variety of Capitol Hill and First Hill neighborhood residents, businesses, workers, and institutions related to the opening and operation of the Seattle Regional Crisis Care Center.

State Environmental Policy Act

DCHS is issued a Letter of Determination of Non-significance for new residential treatment facilities in compliance with the State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA; RCW 43.21C). The intent of SEPA is to ensure that state and local agencies take into consideration the potential environmental impacts of a proposal, as well as ways to mitigate those impacts, during their decision-making processes. Based on the evaluation of the proposal as documented in the SEPA Checklist, King County has determined that this proposal will not have any significant adverse impact on the environment. An environmental impact statement (EIS) is not required under RCW 43.21C.030 based on review of the SEPA Checklist.
